Vibrio Related Diseases in Aquaculture and Development of Rapid and Accurate Identification Methods

چکیده
Aquaculture remains a growing, vibrant and important production sector for high-protein animal food that is easily digestible and of high biological value. Globally, marine and inland capture fisheries provide two-thirds of the total food fish supply with the remaining one-third being derived from aquaculture [1]. The reported global production of food fish from aquaculture, including fin fishes, crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic animals for human consumption, reached a staggering height of 52.5 million tons in 2008. The contribution of aquaculture to the total production of capture fisheries and aquaculture continued to grow, rising from 34.5% in 2006 to 36.9% in 2008. In the period 1970-2008, the production of food fish from aquaculture increased at an average annual rate of 8.3% according to The State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture 2010 [2].

Isolation and molecular identification of Vibrio alginolyticus from cultured marine fish in farms located south provinces of Iran
Bacterial diseases are a major challenge and warning to the development of aquaculture industry. Vibriosis is caused by bacteria of the genus Vibrio, especially Vibrio alginolyticus, in warm and temperate regions, which cause severe damages to the marine fish production economy every year. The aim of the present study was to isolate and identify this bacterium from farmed marine fish with bacte...
متن کاملRAPID IDENTIFICATION OF Vibrio cholera-01 BY COAGGLUTINATION TEST USING MONO-SPECIFIC ANTIBODY
Mono-specific antisera against Vibrio cholera Ogawa NIH-43 and Vibrio cholera Inaba 35-A3 were prepared from rabbit hyperimmune sera by absorbing against a heterologous strain. Using ammonium sulphate precipitation procedure, gamma globulins were purified and concentrated. To visualize antigen-antibody reaction, gamma globulins were conjugated to Staphylococcus aureus cowan-l (NCTC: 8325) ...
متن کاملEvaluation of endurance against antibiotics in the western blotting shrimp propagation centers on pathogens of vibrio
This study was conducted to evaluate the resistance to antibiotics in the western white shrimp propagation centers on pathogens of Vibrio bacteria. In Iran, the most important bacteria in the shrimp are the vibrio species. In Bushehr Province, due to the high efficacy of erythromycin antibiotics, streptomycyne oxytracycline and tremitoprim in bacterial diseases, were selected as the species. Th...
متن کاملDevelopment of a Taqman real-time PCR assay for rapid detection and quantification of Vibrio tapetis in extrapallial fluids of clams
The Gram-negative bacterium Vibrio tapetis is known as the causative agent of Brown Ring Disease (BRD) in the Manila clam Venerupis (=Ruditapes) philippinarum. This bivalve is the second most important species produced in aquaculture and has a high commercial value. In spite of the development of several molecular methods, no survey has been yet achieved to rapidly quantify the bacterium in the...
متن کاملSimple and Accurate Detection of Vibrio Cholera Using Triplex Dot Blotting Assay
Cholera outbreak is more common in developing countries. The causative agent of the disease is Vibrio cholerae strains O1 and O139. Traditional diagnostic testing for Vibrio is not always reliable, because Vibrio can enter a viable but non cultivable state. Therefore, nucleic acid-based tests have emerged as a useful alternative to traditional enrichment testing. In this investigation, a...
